SURPRISE!! An early post! Third week down WOW that sure did go by fast. Just like the previous weeks, it was packed full of stuff for us to do and barely any time to do it. I am learning day by day, week by week that things won’t always go your way or you won’t always get the time you think you need. But in the end there is always a solution and things will somehow get done (just maybe not how you expected). Peace Corps other motto: Lower Expectations.

My weekly Spotlights:

Megan-Eileen- one of the kindest souls I have ever met, she always has a smile on her face and will always laugh at your jokes if you need a boost.

Krista- one of the first people I bonded with, she’s a southern girl that knows many tricks including using deodorant instead of baby powder to prevent chafin YOU ROCK/ YOU SAVED MY LIFE

Nate “Nacho”- oh nacho, I first met him at the airport and creepily yelled you’re from Charleston right? Anyways he didn’t judge me, he’s got moves like jagger and takes down a beer faster than anyone I know. (sorry about the pic but I had to)

Cassie- the most random person I’ve meet but always has a story to tell. But hey you know she’s down for anything.

Facts/things that I learned this week:

-That April Fools here is in December

-Continuing from other weeks when in doubt add papas

- Learned all about their seasons and how they are opposite from ours (guess isn’t that weird that its summer for Christmas, especially since this past year it was 80 degrees on Christmas Day)

-Learn all the nasty things that mosquitos carry

-That I am extremely goofy and I’m lucky for that because it carries over without language

-Dance whenever you can

-Mishka (my favorite cat here) is pregnant and is having kittens in JUNE!!!

Things I did this week:

-Learned how to do the “Baile de Azucar”

-Got another rabies shot

-Started reading ‘Room’ and I just can’t stop

-Played more childhood games like Pictionary and Telephone

-Taught my class how to wobble (really could’ve used your help Uncle Andy)

-Jammed out to some 1D with my sister

-Walked around Moron (it’s a town and its pronounced mo-ron) with Shannon

-Went to what I thought was going to be a PTO meeting and it ended up being completely different, but talked to some random girls in 3rd grade and that was nice

One of my favorite parts of this week was a chala by Lois (one of the guys who works at my training center). I was having a bad day and I was getting discouraged from my Spanish and was starting to disengage in activities because of it. Then he talked about how his life was changed when he saw a volunteer in site and how that changed his outlook and ended up impacting his decisions. My job here isn’t based on how many community banks I can start or how many classes I teach, but the relationships that I will build every day. It was exactly what I needed.

Well I am off for a week in Cascas, La Libertad for Field Based Training- Chao
